Photostabilization Effect of Pyrazolone Azo Dyes on IR Absorbers in Polymer Films

Abstract

A study of the photodestruction of metal-containing organic dyes that absorb light in the near-IR region of the spectrum has been carried out. The light fastness in the polymer matrix of both individual dyes and their binary mixtures with monoazo dyes of the pyrazolone series has been studied. The study was performed during 10 h of insolation. The degree of decomposition of the dye under the action of light was determined from the decrease in its optical density at the analytical wavelength in the electronic absorption spectra. A light stabilizing effect on the IR absorbers of pyrazolone azo dyes containing a nitro group has been shown. Recommendations are given on the use of the investigated metal-containing and pyrazolone dyes in the development of light-stable polymer optical filters.
