WHO hails “historic day” as it recommends malaria vaccine

Abstract

Trials reported in 2015 showed that the vaccine could prevent four in 10 cases of malaria and three in 10 severe cases. But there were doubts that the vaccine wouldwork in remote and rural settings, as it requires four doses to be effective. Another worry was that parents might assume that the vaccine was more potent than it actually is and might let their guard downonother preventivemeasures such as sleeping under a bed net.
