Exploring the Informatization Teaching Ability of High School Teachers in the Western Region of China

 
 
 
 
 

Abstract


Teachers informatization teaching ability is the key content to promote teachers professional development.The study selected three high school teachers in Longchang County in the western China as the survey objects, conducted an in-depth investigation of the local high school teachers informatization teaching ability level. Firstly, according to the characteristics of senior high school teachers in the western region, the author combines the Information Technology Application Ability Standards for Primary and Secondary School Teachers (Trial) to divide the informatization teaching ability of teachers into 5 dimensions: informatization teaching literacy, informatization teaching plan and preparation ability, informatization teaching implementation and monitoring ability, informatization teaching evaluation and diagnosis ability, and informatization teaching learning and development. Secondly, the author randomly selected 20 teachers as a sample to test the reliability and validity of the 178 questionnaires. Finally, 12 teachers from three schools were selected as samples for in-depth interviews, and the results of the interviews and questionnaire data were analyzed. The study found that: teachers practice application lags behind consciousness, school informatization teaching atmosphere is deserted, and systems and mechanisms are missing, etc. On the basis of the current situation and the reasons, the author puts forward suggestions to improve the informatization teaching ability of high school teachers in Longchang County, such as national macro-level policy support and financial guarantee; local education administration departments play a good role in pre-job and on-the-job training in order to improve teachers’ informatization teaching ability.
