Abstract

Previous research literature shows that the relationship between human capital and economic growth is not only the core issue in the field of economics research, but also the key issue in the field of sociology research. This study takes 15 deputy provincial cities in China as the research object, using the analysis method of descriptive statistics analysis and combining theoretical analysis and empirical validation, relying on the economic growth theory and human capital theory, taking human capital as the breakthrough point. Through comparative analysis of the urban human capital accumulation and economic growth data in recent a decade from 2010 to 2019, the differences of human capital contribution to economic growth between cities in China sea and inland cities have been analyzed and explored. Research results indicate that, regardless of the coastal cities or inland, the positive correlation of human capital contribution to economic growth is still has strong explanatory power through the city economic development in the recent ten years in our country, indicating that the economic theory of human capital of Adam Smith is verified well in China s current economic development process of the appropriateness and suitability to some extent. In addition, the data analysis, this study found that, in the case of human capital accumulation is relatively small, the contribution rate of Ningbo, Shenzhen and other coastal cities to regional economic growth is much higher than the same period of the inland city. This may be due to the coastal city of similar quality of human capital on regional economic development contribution rate is much higher than the result of the interior quality of human capital, and the research conclusion is likely to be more accurate interpretation of the true source of the country s rapid economic growth and the power of the past ten years China s coastal cities. This study is likely to encourage future studies to focus on the relationship between human capital accumulation and economic development by expanding the quality of human capital.
