Lectotypification of Carex insignis (Cyperaceae)

Abstract

Carex insignis Boott (1858: 5) is the name applied to a species that belongs to Carex sect. Decorae (Kukenthal) Ohwi (1936: 338). It occurs in East, South and South-East Asia (Liang et al. 2010). Global Carex Group (2016) found section Decorae to be polyphyletic, being their representatives placed on the Core Carex clade, within the “small Core Carex ” or early diverging within “large Core Carex ” subclade. Unfortunately, C. insignis was not included in that phylogenetic study.
