Abstract

Subaquale bronchoscopy (Quamquam sunt sub aqua, sub aqua videre possunt) C. Meyer-Aumiller. Marienkrankenhaus, Hamburg, Germany. Introduction: In the dilemma to visualize subsub- and subsegmental tumors, EBUS miniprobe, virtual bronchoscopic navigation, baby bronchoscopes and in routine x-ray guidance are used. In our bronchoscopy department we have bronchoscopes with an end diameter of 4,8 till 6,2mm in stock. We routinely tested subaquale bronchoscopy in not visible subsub- and subsegmental tumors. Methods: We insert the bronchoscope with the end diameter of 4,8mm into the subsegmental bronchus and clamp it in as deep as possible. Then we inject up to 20ml saline (0,9%) via the working channel while pressing the bronchoscope deeper. With this manoeuvre we achieve a slide forward for 10 till 20mm. Results: From 1st January, 2016 to 30th June, 2018 with this procedure we found 11 malignant tumors -histologically confirmed. Without this manoeuvre a visualisation was not possible. Conclusion: We recommend this method for imitation.
