Abstract

Daihai Lake is an inland lake in north China. The water level and the water area of Daihai Lake have changed many times due to climate change and environment change. The water level of the lake has been continuously decreasing since the 1970s, and it has caused a great negative impact on the local economic construction. Based on the principle of water balance, after an analysis of hydrological data of the Daihai Lake during 1960-2014, it figures out that the decreasing in the water level of the Daihai Lake was caused by the sharp decreasing in lake runoff. With human activity in the basin, the total amount of water utilization in the basin was also rapidly increasing, which is the main reason of the sharp decrease in lake runoff.
