Heritage Education e Public Archaeology: attività e riflessioni dell’Università di Macerata intorno al patrimonio archeologico di Tifernum Mataurense (Sant’Angelo in Vado, PU)

Abstract

Abstract La consapevolezza del ruolo educativo del cultural heritage e l’approccio olistico alla gestione del patrimonio archeologico proposto dalla Public Archaeology sono i presupposti per lo sviluppo di elaborazioni teoriche e attivita pratiche di musei e parchi, con obiettivi educativi, sociali, culturali, per consentire al pubblico di\xa0 comprendere il dato archeologico, adottare modalita comunicative ed educative differenziate in risposta ai bisogni sociali di partecipazione culturale, riaffermare il valore del patrimonio archeologico come possibile crescita per i cittadini, per lo sviluppo di un turismo sostenibile e la promozione integrata delle diversita culturali e naturali. Su tutto questo si riflette ormai da tempo all’interno dell’equipe dell’Universita di Macerata, che da quasi un ventennio opera indagini stratigrafiche nell’area archeologica di Tifernum Mataurense (Sant’Angelo in Vado, PU), piccolo municipio romano, sito nell’area centro-appenninica lungo l’alta valle del Metauro, di cui si conservano importanti vestigia romane, all’interno di un articolato contesto di attrattive artistiche, ambientali ed eno-gastronomiche. Si e realizzato nel tempo un circuito di attivita diversificate, che, muovendo proprio dalle annuali campagne di scavo, ha tentato di aprire e comunicare l’archeologia agli studenti e al grande pubblico tra incontri-dibattito, passeggiate tra i ruderi con storytelling , full immersion sui temi della vita in antico. The awareness of the educational role of cultural heritage and the holistic approach to the management of archaeological heritage as proposed by Public Archaeology are the prerequisites for the development of theoretical elaborations and practical activities for museums and parks, with educational, social and cultural objectives. The aim is to enable the public to understand the archaeological data, to adopt different communicative and educative methods in response to the social needs of cultural participation, to reaffirm the value of archaeological heritage for the development of sustainable tourism and the combined promotion of cultural and natural diversity as opportunities for growth for citizens. The team of the University of Macerata has been reflecting on all this for some time now since for almost twenty years carrying out stratigraphic surveys in the archaeological area of Tifernum Mataurense (Sant’Angelo in Vado, PU), a small Roman municipality, located in the central-Apennine area along the upper Metauro valley, which still preserves significant Roman remains in a rich context of artistic, environmental and gastronomic attractions. Over time, starting from the annual excavation campaigns, a circuit of diversified activities has been created to open up and communicate archaeology to students and the general public through meetings and debates, storytelling walks amongst the ruins, full immersion on themes of life in ancient times.
