Abstract

Lipomas are one of the most common benign mesenchymal neoplasm composed of matured adipocytes. Most of the lipomas are encountered in the sub dermal location in the upper half of the body particularly trunk and neck. However deep seated lipomas are particularly those originating in the retroperitoneal space are unusual. The etiology of lipomas is still indecisive. Lately a positive adipocyte stem cell turnover has been supposed to be the proposed mechanism.
