NARRATIVAS ORAIS E FORMAÇÃO POLÍTICA A PARTIR DO MASSACRE DE ELDORADO DOS CARAJÁS (PA) E DA MEMÓRIA DO JOVEM OZIEL ALVES

Abstract

this article presents partial research results developed during the investigation process in Doctoral studies in Cultural Performances. The investigation established as its object of study the Eldorado dos Carajás Massacre in the state of Pará, which happened on April 17, 1996, and brought up the following problem: to what extent do the oral narratives of the survivors of the Eldorado dos Carajás massacre, as an expression of a social drama, relate to the political training of participants in the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST)? At the time, 19 workers linked to the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) were murdered by state police officers while attempting to negotiate in one of the recurring land conflicts, common in this part of the Brazilian Amazon. Having as the corpus of analysis, the oral narratives of the survivors of the massacre raised in fieldwork through semi-structures interviews, in its theoretical-methodological approach this work develops the analysis based on the notions of culture, training, oral narratives, and memory. This approach allows a construct in the text, in which the legacy of the martyr Oziel Alves and the political culture of the MST come to light. In this regard, the article presents considerations and contributions to the reflection on political culture and the training of militants and youth in the context of the social movement in question, which is of interest to interdisciplinary studies.
