Abstract


The aim of the study was to evaluate the importance value of the edible plants (fruits and vegetables) that are offered in the Revolution market in Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla, Mexico. The study was carried out with visits to the market where the edible plants were registered and the number of stalls that make up the basic structure of the market was counted, as well as the edible species that are commercialized in the premises during the year. These data were used to estimate its relative importance value. The data recorded in interviews with the merchants were the common name, place of origin and handling. In the market, 253 stalls of fruit and vegetable were listed, where 38 families, 78 genera and 101 species, five varieties and three subspecies were registered. The families with the highest number of species were Martínez Moreno, D., J. Reyes Matamoros, A.L. López Pérez y F.
