Abstract

Dengue is considered by epidemiology to be a viral syndrome that is caused by a virus of the family Flaviviridae, its serotypes are defined as DENV1, DENV2, DENV3 and DENV 4. Such a disease must be worked on at school and must be inserted in textbooks, as an impairment of attention to public and collective health, therefore, its approach in an applied way is of great importance. Thus, the objective was to carry out a bibliographic survey on dengue presenting its characteristics and prophylaxis, and also to analyze 05 collections of Science textbooks focused on Elementary Education, describing in a descriptive way how the books approach the theme. The methodology adopted was qualitative, in an exploratory narrative, the listed books were acquired on loan and are part of the national textbook plan 2018/2020. We conclude that dengue is still a disease that causes major problems to people s health, impacting the collective health systems in Brazil, textbooks, in general, approach the theme in a descriptive and in-depth way. \n\xa0 \nKeywords: Dengue, Textbooks, Science teaching.
