Abstract


Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the health, social and economic circumstamces of young people attending the Van Vali Alipasa Vocational Training Center, and to evaluate the factors affecting them in terms of submissive behaviour. Method: The population of this cross-sectional study was the 15-22 aged adolescents (n:260) who were training in apprenticeship education at Van Vali Alipasa Vocational Training Center in 2015-2016. A sample was not taken and an attempt was made to reach all of the population. After information about the study was provided to all participants, questionnaire forms were applied to 240 student. A questionnaire developed by the researchers, the Kuppuswamy’s Socioeconomic Status Scale and the Submissive Behaviour Scale (SBS) were used for data collection. Conclusions: The participants were observed to exhibit more submissive behaviours than the general population. Young workers should be educated about their rights and liabilities; activities should be done to raise awareness in the population.
