In Patients with Nonobstructive Meniscal Tears, Physiotherapy Was Noninferior to Arthroscopic Partial Meniscectomy for Knee Function Over a 24-Month Period

Abstract

Patients: 321 patients 45 to 70 years of age (mean age, 58 years; 50% women) who were referred for knee pain and a nonobstructive meniscal tear that had been confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Exclusion criteria were locking of the knee, previous knee surgery, instability due to anterior or posterior cruciate ligament rupture, severe osteoarthritis (Kellgren-Lawrence score of 4), or body mass index.35 kg/m. 289 patients (90%) completed follow-up at 24 months and were included in the intention-to-treat analysis.
