Application of TID Controller in LFC of Two Area System under Open Market Scenario

Abstract

In this paper, the importance of the Tilt-integrated-derivative (TID) controller using the Slime Mould Algorithm (SMA) is adopted to minimize the LFC problems in the two area interconnected power system under the deregulation environment. In the new two area power system, each area consists of hydro and reheat thermal unit. The tuning of the TID Controller parameters is done by using SMA algorithm. The SMA is a population-based Meta heuristic motivated by the oscillation behaviours of slime mould in nature. The performance of TID Controller parameters using SMA algorithm rectifies the dynamic behaviour of the two area system like frequency deviation in each area and the tie line deviations of power after a sudden small load change occurs. To investigate the performance improvement of the present investigated method, the system is tested under all possible different power transactions for a small load disturbance and the results are compared with PI and PID controller and also tabulated. The optimal parameter of the TID controller is evaluated by employing through a performance based analyze method.
