Recent Innovations in Nano container-based self-healing coatings in Construction Industry

Abstract

\n\nMaintaining infrastructure costs billions of dollars globally and obstructs people s travel plans every day. A significant cause of deterioration in construction industries is the corrosion of infrastructure and metals used for the manufacture of goods and supplies. This has culminated in numerous developments in the ground of smart self-healing coatings centered on nanocontainer for corrosion treatment of metallic substrates (iron, aluminium and magnesium and their alloys), due to their potential to prevent the spread of cracks in protective coatings by releasing active agents from micro / nanocontainer in a controllable sense. The potential of such coatings to heal local damage induced by climatic causes or by mechanical damage is a significant contributing factor to their desirability. This review is a comprehensive analysis of nanocontainer used to manufacture self-healing anticorrosive coatings as well as explains their self-healing mechanism. The techniques used to develop nanocontainer specifically by layered double hydroxide and layer by layer have been clarified. An attempt has also been made to cover latest developments in the manufacture of nanocontainer for self-healing corrosion coatings in several construction industries.\n
