High Gain and Wide Angle Beam Scanning Antenna Array Based on CTS
Abstract
A high gain flat continuous transverse stub (CTS) beam scanning antenna array operating at X band is proposed. A novel compact corporate-feed network consisting of an H-plane horn and a flat Luneburg lens is designed. The lens converts the cylindrical wave generated by the horn into plane wave to feed the CTS antenna. By moving the H-plane horn on the surface of the lens, the beam scanning is realized. A 12-element array is designed and simulated. The simulation results show that the scanning range of −30° ∼30° is achieved by moving the horn. The maximum gain of the antenna is 20.6 dBi and the sidelobe level is −25.2 dB. The proposed antenna can be a good candidate for radar systems and satellite communication terminals, which require low cost and high gain.
