A Predictive Control Method with Few Voltage Sensors for Vienna Rectifiers

Abstract

Vienna rectifier is a kind of rectifier circuit with a unique topology. Its traditional control strategy is carried out under the condition of a known power grid. This paper presents a model predictive control strategy with few voltage sensors. The PI controller is used to adjust the DC voltage, and the model predictive control strategy is used to control the input current. On this basis, we reduce the use of voltage sensors and use the Luenberger state observer to observe the voltage. The advantages of this method are: (1) to reduce the hardware cost and improve the reliability of the system; (2) to reduce the volume of the system; (3) to enhance the robustness of the system. The simulation results verify the correctness and effectiveness of the control scheme.
