A Switching Control Strategy for Multi-input Aero-engine Systems

Abstract

This paper studies the multi-objective control design problem for the aero-engines. A novel switching control strategy is proposed to achieve the trade-off between safety and response performance for aero-engines. Multiple control inputs are considered simultaneously to make full use of potential of the engine. Control design thus becomes complicated. Applying the descriptor linear system theory and the linear quadratic regulator technique, we design the safety protection controllers for the limited outputs. Simulation results of a two-spool turbofan aero-engine verify the effectiveness of the proposed switching control strategy, and indicate that the proposed scheme brings improvement on both safety and transient performance.
