Abstract

When partial shading condition (PSC) occurs, the output p-v characteristic of photovoltaic array presents multi-peak characteristics. The traditional Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method is easy to be trapped in a local maximum power point, and cannot quickly and accurately track the global maximum power point. Therefore, to track the maximum power point of the photovoltaic system quickly and accurately under partial shading conditions (PSCs), this paper proposes an efficient MPPT controller based on modified artificial bee colony (MABC) algorithm. The proposed control strategy is compared with perturbation and observation (P&O) algorithm, particle swarm algorithm (PSO) and standard artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm to verify its effectiveness and superiority.
