TRANSITIVITY PROCESS OF DONALD TRUMP’S POLITICAL SPEECH

 
 
 

Abstract


The purpose of this study are; 1) To describe the transitivity process illustrated in \nDonald Trump’s Speech campaign; 2) To elaborate how Donald Trump realizes his \npolitical motivations on his speech and 3) To explain why Donald Trump reflects his \npolitical motivation on the way he does. This study carried out Donald Trump’s \nspeech that delivered in Washington D.C 2017. The data were taken from Donald \nTrumps speech transcript that downloaded from internet and analyzed use Critical \nDiscourse Analysis by Fairclough model and Thematic approach. Based on the \nresult of data analysis, it is found that the transitivity processes illustrated in Donald \nTrumps political Speech are 6 types. They are material process, relational process, \nmental process, verbal process, existential process and behavioral process and from \nall the processes the dominantly used is material process. It shows the speaker \nambition is implicated on the speech. it can be realized that one of the notable \nfunctions of this process refers to what the president will do in the future. It found \nalso that Donald Trump bringing up three themes on his speech, they are: being unity, \nAmerican’s issue, and citizen involvement. The reason Trump to realized those \nthemes are because he tends to construct the concept of conveying, promising, and \npersuading is effective approach on speech to gain the big attention and support from \npeople
