Abstract

One way to answer to this challenge is the Open Access Movement. This movement allows the reading, downloading, copying, distributing, printing, searching or linking of complete texts, technological development, innovation and education, among others, for free and with legitimate purposes related to research. All this, without barriers other than the economic, legal or technical ones that the Internet itself implies and taking into account that one of the publication mechanisms are digital repositories. This work introduces the creation of the Open Institutional Repository of the Faculty of Technology and Applied Sciences of the National University of Catamarca whose main aim is to promote the scientific and academic production of its community. The paper also shows the implementation of the Institutional Repository usage statistics module, which facilitates the analysis and understanding of the stored resources, and measures its popularity and usefulness, also helps the authorities to make decisions in political, tactical and operational aspects.
