El rol del FMI en la economía argentina

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the role of the IMF in the last cycle of external debt and capital flight in Argentina, during Cambiemos’ government. In addition, it presents a review of the closest antecedents of the IMF as enabler of capital flight in Argentina and in support of financial liberalization policies. Additionally, it seeks to draw connections between Argentine tax system problems and capital flight, which are deepened by neoliberal governments’ policy -and promoted by the IMF- and the breach of economic, social and cultural rights. Finally, thiswork studies the tax system as a tool in order to improve the economic and social structure and reduce levels of social inequality and poverty. To this end, it supports the need for a tax reform which provides progressivity to the tax system and combats tax evasion by big companies and wealthy individuals.
