Abstract

To the editor, Few data are available on epidemiology, natural history and outcome of patients with acute heart failure (AHF) in middle Eastern countries. Previous registries on AHF in USA and Europe have shown that audit of clinical practice through registries helps in increased implementation of effective evidence-based guidelines that direct therapies. Data from the first multinational multicentre prospective observational survey on AHF, the Gulf Acute Heart Failure Registry (Gulf-CARE), involving 47 hospitals in seven middle East countries, were previously published. A recent analysis from the Gulf area further underlines the negative prognostic impact of worsening heart failure in AHF patients. The aim of this letter is to describe the characteristics of AHF in Yemen using the Gulf-CARE registry.
