Abstract
This research aims to determine the existence of gender discrimination in the workplace against women: the glass ceiling effect at the University of Cauca, located in Popayan, Colombia. A methodology with a quantitative approach was proposed, based on the theories of taste for discrimination, glass ceiling effect. In order to do that, a discrete choice model is implemented. Thus, this study inquired into the probability that a woman could get a senior management position. The results indicated the existence of the ceiling glass and the low probability of holding management positions by female professors.
