Abstract

In modern life there is a growing use of technology to its full potential. It is inevitable to question technological interference with child development, positive or negative manifestations and their impacts on the posture of a child who spends long periods of day handling his Smartphone or Tablet. The objective of the study was to evaluate and compare whether the use of the mobile device while sitting interferes with the physiological posture of children by analyzing cervical flexion angles with and without the use of the device. The methodology used was a randomized observational cross-sectional study of 15 volunteers aged 6 to 10 years, of both genders. Children with moderate to severe postural changes, neuromotor impairment, musculoskeletal disorders, children with obesity or unbalanced visual deficits were excluded. For postural analysis, biophotometry was used. For analysis of the mean angulation, the Kinovea (Coach s Eye) application was used. It can be inferred that there was a significant difference between all values of Control Group compared to Cell Group, resulting in increased of cervical flexion and upper chest during the use of smarthphone. It is concluded that the use of the cellular device compromises the posture during the sitting position and increases the cervical flexion.
