Η εξέλιξη των κεντρικών κρατικών υπηρεσιών και δομών προστασίας στην Ελλάδα

Abstract

Social protection in Greece mainly concerns interventions through programs and structures aimed at improving the standard of living. Especially vulnerable groups such as children, citizens with health problems, homeless, elderly, disabled, and \ndeprived people, single-parent families, and drug addicts. The purpose of this thesis is to present the situation of the national state protection services and social structures, in relation to the past. In order to achieve this, we will study and present the \nbibliographical review in detail of the programs and structures that exist today compared to the past. Clearly, socioeconomic factors and especially the financial crisis to which both Greece and the EU entered had a major impact on the social policy implemented. In particular, through our research we aim to provide answers to questions related to social policy issues. Specifically, in the first chapter we will attempt a review of the historical background of social policy and its evolution, starting from ancient Greece up until our era, through a study of various time periods, focusing on the decade of 1980s where there were significant interventions in the field of social protection, but also in the last decade of the economic crisis and memoranda and their impact on social policy. In the second chapter we will mention social welfare structures and governmental services for child protection in Greece. In chapter three we will refer to the national state services and structures for the protection of deprived individuals and families as well as homeless people. In the fourth chapter we study the structures addressed at disabled and drug addicted persons, the steps that have been taken over time, the structures that have existed in the past as well as in the present time. In the fifth chapter we will study the case of the old age in social structures and government services, development and interventions. In chapter six we will deal with the role of the local government administration in social policy. Our thesis concludes with a discussion of whether our research questions and hypotheses have been answered and verified. In the end we quote the conclusions that arise from our review and bibliographical sources.
