Διερεύνηση κριτηρίων για τον σχεδιασμό συστήματος διαμοιρασμένης μετακίνησης σε Ιδρύματα Ανώτατης Εκπαίδευσης

Abstract

The advent of ridesharing systems will soon be a reality that will bring about significant changes in transportation while reasonably raising the question of their acceptance by the general public. This question has occupied researchers in recent years at the international level, without, however, similar research being conducted in Greece. With the present Diploma Thesis, an attempt is made to fill this gap, aiming at the investigation of the criteria for the design of a ridesharing system in Higher Education Institutions of Greece, as well as the identification of the main factors that affect this acceptance. In order to collect the required data, an online survey was conducted through a questionnaire, which was completed by 948 travelers (who either study or work at a Higher Education Institution in Greece). Then, regression models (polynomial and binomial) are developed. The results show that their acceptance depends to a large extent on criteria that may be grouped in three categories: 1) reasons, 2) motives, and 3) constraints. These criteria are used to form policies that may be used for the successful implementation of ridesharing systems in Higher Education Institutions of Greece
