KONDISI MINAT BACA SISWA SMA KELAS XI TERHADAP KARYA SASTRA DI KABUPATEN SLEMAN DAN KULON PROGO (CONDITION OF READING INTEREST ON LITERARY WORKS BY STUDENTS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, XI GRADE IN SLEMAN AND KULONPROGO REGENCIES)

 
 
 
 

Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan kondisi minat baca siswa SMA di Kabupaten Sleman dan Kulon Progo terhadap karya sastra. Kondisi minat baca itu diukur dari aspek perasaan siswa dalam membaca karya sastra; tujuan membacanya; dukungan lingkungannya; fasilitas bacaan atau ketersediaan bacaan; dan berdasarkan degree of reading , yaitu frekuensi membaca, jumlah yang dibaca, media/format bacaan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara survei terhadap 180 siswa dari 6 sekolah. Penentuan sekolah sampel dilakukan dengan cluster sampling yang mewakili tiga kelompok, yaitu sekolah unggul atau maju, menengah, dan kurang maju. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa minat baca para siswa SMA terhadap karya sastra relatif tinggi. Dukungan lingkungan siswa (keluarga dan sekolah) dalam membaca karya sastra juga baik, tetapi fasilitas bacaan sastranya relatif kurang tercukupi. Sementara itu, keberadaan gadget/gawai dengan berbagai fasilitasnya menjadi gangguan utama dalam hal membaca karya sastra. This study aims to reveal the condition of reading interest of high school students in Sleman and Kulon Progo Regencies towards literary works. The condition of reading interest is measured from the aspect of students’ feelings in reading literary works; the purpose of reading it; environmental support; reading facilities or reading availability; and based on the degree of reading, namely reading frequency, number of readings, reading media/format. This research was conducted by means of a survey of 180 students from 6 schools. The determination of the sample schools was carried out by cluster sampling representing three groups, namely superior or advanced, middle, and less advanced schools. The results showed that the reading interest of high school students towards literary works was relatively high. The environmental support of students (family and school) in reading literary works is also good, but the literary reading facilities are relatively inadequate. Meanwhile, the presence of gadgets/devices with arious facilities is a major distraction in terms of reading literary works.
