“É devagar, devagarinho”: insubordinação criativa teórico-metodológica como suporte a uma investigação etnomatemática

 

Abstract


One of the challenges of research with Ethnomathematics is to think about research practices that are not limited to the methodologies of research involving academic mathematics. As an alternative to an ethnomathematical investigation with workers and artists that manufacture Carnival floats, costumes and props for the samba schools Os Protegidos da Princesa and Embaixada Copa Lord, we developed what we call 1 Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina SOUZA, JL. “É devagar, devagarinho”: insubordinação criativa teóricometodológica como suporte a uma investigação etnomatemática. Theoretical-methodological tools included theoretical, historical and documentary research, as well as fieldwork that focused on carefully observing, analyzing and describing the social reality of the components, making use of conversations, semi-structured interviews, photographs and audiovisual recordings. In this text, we report the difficulties encountered in approaching the field and detail the procedures used during the investigation. Finally, based on learning from the research subjects themselves, we validate our theoretical and methodological choices.
