A missão no canteiro de obras do Vaticano II. Contexto e texto do Decreto Ad Gentes revisitado 40 anos depois de sua promulgação

Abstract

A genese historica do Decreto Ad Gentes sobre a atividade missionaria da Igreja conduz o leitor a um canteiro de obras ate hoje inacabado. Pelo Vaticano II (1962-1965), a Igreja nao conseguiu livrar-se totalmente do peso que acumulou nos seculos de cristandade e colonizacao. O Concilio, porem, iniciou processos que fizeram redescobrir a natureza missionaria da Igreja e reconstruir a sua identidade como povo de Deus. Introduziu na sua pratica pastoral novos macroparadigmas, como aggiornamento e dialogo, relevantes para a atividade missionaria e sua interlocucao com o mundo e as religioes nao-cristas. Nos processos que levaram a redefinicao da missao, assiste-se a um deslocamento de uma Igreja que tem missoes territoriais, pelas quais faz coletas e pede oracoes, para uma Igreja na qual a missionariedade representa uma orientacao fundamental de todas as suas atividades.Abstract: The historical genesis of the Ad Gentes Decree about the Church’s missionary activity leads the reader to a building site where, to date, the building work is unfinished. According to the Vatican II (1962-1965) the Church was unable to rid itself totally of the burden it accumulated in the centuries of Christianity and colonization. At the Council, however, processes were begun that made possible the rediscovery of the missionary nature of the Church and the reconstruction of its identity as God’s people. It introduced new macro-paradigms in the pastoral practice such as aggiornamento and dialogue, both relevant for missionary activity and its interlocution with the world and with the non-Christian religions. In the processes that led to the redefinition of the mission, we observe a displacement from a Church that has territorial missions, in name of which it carries out collections and asks for prayers, to a Church in which missionary activity represents a fundamental north for all other Church activities.
