Examination of Arabic Speaking Skills Self-Efficacy Perceptions of Arabic Language and Literature Department Students

 

Abstract


This study aims at examining the Arabic speaking skills self-efficacy perceptions of the students of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature studying at Kafkas University. We selected 200 students by the simple random sampling method participated in the research in which the survey model was used. The Self-Efficacy Scale for Arabic Speaking Skills developed by Yeşilyurt (2015) was used as a data collection tool in the study. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale which is one-dimensional is 91. The reliability coefficient calculated within the scope of this research is .85 and the scale used accordingly is reliable. According to the findings of the study in which the Mann whitney U test and Wilcoxon signed rank test were used for data analysis, it was determined that the perceptions of Arabic speaking skills self-efficacy of the students of the relevant department did not change according to age and grade level, but significantly changed according to gender and academic average. At the end of the study, suggestions were made based on the results for the future studies.
