Sistemas microestruturados empregando dispersões sólidas contendo óleo essencial de tomilho: desenvolvimento, síntese e caracterização físico-química e morfológica
Abstract
Nowadays the solid dispersions are an important field of research for the development of a drug delivery system that has hydrophobia as one of the most important characteristics, that hinders its bioavailability, causing them to be discarded of new research. The advantages provided are increased water solubility through the hydrophilic carrier dispersion and the micrometric decrease of the particles. Combined with the improvement of innovative drug systems, this research is an alternative in the use of a new antiparasitic drug, a field that urgently needs improvement due to the presence of resistance to the usual pharmacotherapy and the possibility of serious side effects. Therefore, the objective of this work is the development of solid dispersions using the essential oil of Thyme (Thymus vulgaris), known for its antiparasitic activity, being considered a new system of drug release. The chosen preparation method was the melt-solvent technique, using polyethylene glycol (PEG) as the drug carrier. Its characterization occured by tests of infrared spectrophotometry, differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetry, X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy. Electron microscopy analysis showed a decrease in particle size, in addition to the increase in the number of these particles. The comparative analyzes of infrared and X-ray diffraction, suggesting the correct encapsulation of the oil. In addition, comparative thermal analysis demonstrated a positive interaction between the drug and the carrier. \nKeywords: Solid dispersions. Thymus vulgaris. Microtechnology
