Insulinization therapy has been an effective aid to improve the long-term control and quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. There are two large groups of insulins that are human insulins and insulin analogues. The former has determined to be an effective and less expensive option, for this reason doctors should be familiar with its use. They can use various schemes for insulin, the basal scheme is the one that has the greatest reduction in glycemic levels and lower risk of hypoglycemia. It is also simple which facilitates the adherence of patients to treatment.
