A CIDADE E O CIDADÃO: ESTÍMULO À PARTICIPAÇÃO SOCIAL NO PROCESSO DE CONSTRUÇÃO DA CIDADE

Abstract

This article presents the partial results of the extension project entitled “CITY AND CITIZEN: ENCOURAGING SOCIAL PARTICIPATION IN THE CITY CONSTRUCTION PROCESS”, which is part of the Extension Program of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, being carried out by students of the course. Degree in Pedagogy and supervised by Professor of the Food Engineering course. Aiming to analyze the conceptions of the council members who hold their meetings and carry out their activities at the House of Councils in the city of GaranhunsPE, about the laws that govern them, and their understandings regarding the objectives and actions necessary for full performance. of each board. The work was based on the observation that the social representation, through the action of the sectoral councils, in the search for the improvement of people s quality of life has been decreasing. For the development of the work, the theoretical and methodological deepening was performed, adopting as strategy of work interviews with the presidents and other members of the councils, besides the participation in ordinary meetings in order to make possible the work of reframing the practice of the members of the participating councils. Some authors that gave basis for this were: Santos and Ramalho (2005), Ferreira (2005), Bravo (2007), Gerschman (2004), Arruda and Kocourek (2008), Bordignon (2009), Demo (1996) among other authors cited in order to demonstrate the need for a resignification of the role played by the members of the sector councils in search of the improvement of life in society. As a partial result, it was observed that the lack of commitment on the part of the analyzed council members influences the results obtained by them for the common good of civil society.
