Abstract

The coriander is an olerícola with good aromatic properties, is widely cultivated in Brazil, especially in the northeast region and presents economic and social importance. The technological level of production employed is low, making studies imminent to increase production. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of the spacing and the orientation of cultivation in relation to the vegetative development and productivity of coriander. The research was conducted at the experimental campus of the Center for Agrarian and Biodiversity Sciences, Federal University of Cariri UFCA; the harvest was done 35 Days After Emergency DAS. A randomized block design with 2 x 4 factorial with three replicates was used as experimental design, and 24 experimental plots were evaluated. The data were evaluated by means of the Tukey test (P <0.05) and by the regression analysis using the SISVAR program, version 5.3. The first factor was the positions (North-South and East-West) and the second was the use of different spacings between the crop rows: 10, 15, 20 and 25 cm. There was no statistically significant interaction between the factors studied (orientations x spacings). The evaluated plot was composed by area equivalent to 1m2; the orientation was significant for the variables number of plants per meter and number of plants per square meter. The best position was the East-West. The spacing expressed significance only for variable root mass, presenting better results for plants spaced 25 cm between rows (P <0.05). The amount of approximately 1050 plants per square meter was observed at spacing of 10 cm.
