Abstract

The Citrus Genetic Improvement Program led by Embrapa Cassava and Fruitculture evaluates rootstock and crown varieties in a network of trials in 21 Brazilian states. In 2015 Embrapa Amazônia Oriental joined this team, and has been evaluating, in partnership with producers from the city of Capitão Poço PA, several rootstocks under orange canopy cop ‘Pera’. One of these orchards was installed at Fazenda Ornela, where it was evaluated the morphometric characteristics of an orchard in formation of Pêra orange, in combination with six rootstocks: Cravo Santa Cruz lemon, Sunki Tropical mandarin, Riverside citrandarins and San Diego , and the LVK x LCR 010 and TSKC x CTSW 033 hybrids. The experiment was arranged in randomized blocks, where each rootstock corresponded to one treatment, with four replications, ten plants per experimental plot and a stand of 240 plants. The following parameters were evaluated: plant height (PH), stem diameter below and above the graft (SDb) and (SDa), and crown volume (CV). There was a significant difference for the evaluated variables among the rootstocks, by Tukey test at 5% level. Given the results obtained with these biometric variables, in these five years of development, it can be stated that the mandarin rootstock Sunki Tropical and citrandarin Riverside were the ones that stood out as the Pêra orange rootstock.
