ВИКЛАДАННЯ УКРАЇНОЗНАВСТВА У ВИЩІЙ ШКОЛІ ЯК НАЦІОНАЛЬНА ПОТРЕБА

Abstract

Ukrainian studies is an academic discipline that is a part of the humanities scope in higher education. The need for its teaching is connected with the process of formation of integrative knowledge about Ukraine and Ukrainianness, with the urgent need to learn the worldview, geopolitical and cultural foundations of Ukrainian living. Important tasks are entrusted to Ukrainian studies in the context of educating the individual, its organic entry into the Ukrainian world, strengthening the sense of national identity. Ukrainian studies is a nation-building discipline that objectively contributes to the development of ethno-national processes in Ukraine. Philosophical and humanistic foundations of Ukrainian studies are illustrated in the fact that within this discipline the process of cognition of the Ukrainian world and the system of education as wells as university and folk pedagogy are organically synthesized. The main goal, achieved in teaching the course of Ukrainian studies, is not only knowledge, but also education of a citizen with a clear national position and state orientation of consciousness, stable humanistic ethical and aesthetic principles.One of the urgent tasks facing the higher school of Ukraine is the formation of a holistic methodological complex, the content of which is to study the formation and development of the Ukrainian community, to determine its place in the world and to analyze the activities of world Ukrainians, history of Ukrainian ethnicity. The status of Ukrainian studies at the university should be determined by the need to comprehend and understand the phenomenon of Ukraine as a socio-cultural reality, as well as by the study of the peculiarities of nation-building, the education of a new generation of young people, the formation of national identity. Outlining the place of Ukraine in the modern global world, Ukrainian studies is focused on strengthening the processes of incorporation of immense samples of national culture into the mass consciousness. Ukrainian studies is a humanistic science based on a combination of education and training. It is a system of knowledge and scientific and educational methodology. In this role, Ukrainian studies contributes to the formation and expansion of the humanitarian space in higher education. Thus, the young man’s need for knowledge about the Ukrainian ethnic group, its history and culture, the ways of nation-building and state-building is satisfied.
