Anestesia general para cesárea en paciente con paraparesia espástica asociada al virus linfotrópico de las células T humanas tipo 1
Abstract
Introduction:\xa0Spastic paraparesis\xa0is\xa0an\xa0infection\xa0caused by the human T-cell lymphotropic virus\xa0(HTLV-1).\xa0It is\xa0characterized\xa0by slow onset myelopathy that mainly\xa0compromises\xa0the\xa0lower\xa0limbs.\xa0 It affects women more than men and the main routes of transmission are: blood, sexual and vertical (mainly during breastfeeding). \nCase presentation:\xa0Pregnant, 28\xa0years\xa0of\xa0age, and 38\xa0weeks\xa0of gestation, with a\xa0diagnosis\xa0of spastic paraparesis associated with\xa0HTLV-1;\xa0scheduled\xa0for the cesarean section;\xa0in whom a balanced general anesthetic technique was employed.\xa0 \nConclusions:\xa0Balanced general anesthesia\xa0was\xa0a\xa0reasonable\xa0option for the anesthetic management of\xa0cesarean section\xa0in this patient, providing adequate muscle relaxation during\xa0surgery, with minimal hemodynamic changes, as\xa0well\xa0as a rapid recovery from\xa0neuromuscular blockade. \nKeywords:\xa0Spastic paraparesis,\xa0HTLV-1, cesarean section, general anesthesia, anesthetic management.
