Trends in the Primary Incidence of Diseases of the Nervous System of the Kyrgyz Republic

Abstract

The high incidence of diseases of the nervous system indicates an untimely identified pathology and the further progression of diseases. The dynamics in the Kyrgyz Republic as a whole showed an increase in the primary incidence of diseases of the nervous system. In 2015, an increase in the indicator was noted by +2.1%, in 2017 by +11.2%, in 2018 by +0.7%. Cases of first detected epilepsy in dynamics, from 2015 to 2017, increased by +25.1%, +17.8%, +16.0%, respectively. For the first time, cases of lesions of individual nerves, nerve roots showed an increase trend in 2015 by +7.9%, in 2017 by +18.6%, in 2018 by +11.7%. The incidence of childhood cerebral palsy is characterized by an increase in 2015 by +9.8% and a sharp increase in 2018 by +156.5%. In Bishkek, the increase in the primary incidence of nervous diseases in 2017 and 2018 years was +12.1% and +13.8% in terms of growth rate, respectively. Cases of first reported epilepsy tended to rise in all years except 2019. Increase in 2015 by +27.5%, 2016 by +23.7%, 2017 by +2.1%, 2018 by + 34.1%. Cases of lesions of individual nerves, nerve roots tended to increase in 2016 by +2.6%, in 2017 by +22.3%, in 2019 by +2.3%. The incidence of childhood cerebral palsy is characterized by an increasing trend in all years except 2019, as for cases of epilepsy. In dynamics, growth was observed in 2015 by +13.5%, in 2016 by +73.0%, in 2017 by +11.1%, in 2018 by +556.0%. The revealed trends in the incidence of diseases of the nervous system dictate the need to increase the provision of the population with neuropathologists and improve the availability of neurological care to the population.
