Co-ocurrencia de peces fluviátiles en los ríos de Gibara, Holguín, Cuba

 
 
 
 

Abstract


The structure of stream fish assemblage has been related to abiotic factors and the recolonization dynamics, instead of considering biotic interactions as the most important. This work proposed determining patterns of coexistence between the freshwater fish species in the rivers of the Gibara municipality, Holguin, Cuba. The observed index for test C-score was 0.732, bigger than to the simulated index (0.6762). The pairs of species that presented more checkerboard’s units (6) were: Joturus pichardi with Awaous banana andCubanichthys cubensis; Sicydium plumieri with Ciprinus carpio, Cyprinodon artifrons, Eleotris pisonis and Hypophthalmichthys nobilis. The value of the observed index of the ratio-V was 3.8689 allowing to determine that exists a strong covariance between the composition of the species and the number of sites. Two large groups were obtained in the similarity analysis at 75 %, presenting no statistical differences.The species that most contributed to the dissimilarity between both groups were the species of the genus Awaous, Girardinus denticulatus and S. plumieri.
