Abstract
This work aims to analyze what are the main challenges and difficulties that biology teachers face to prepare and teach experimental classes in public schools. Data were collected through interviews with semi-structured scripts applied to teachers and students from three schools (two urban and one from the countryside). This research has a quantitative and qualitative character based on questionnaires and interviews. Through the research it was found that the argument used by many teachers to employ little practical classes is the large number of students per classroom and indiscipline.
