ESTUDO DA CINÉTICA DE ADSORÇÃO DO CARVÃO ATIVADO IMPREGNADO COM ÓXIDO DE GRAFENO / STUDY OF THE ADSORPTION KINETICS OF ACTIVATED CARBON IMPREGNATED WITH GRAPHENE OXIDE
Abstract
The objective of this work was to evaluate the kinetics adsorption of blue dye methylene using carbon activated impregnated with graphene oxide. Graphene oxide was synthesized from the modified Hummres using the graphite of depleted zinc-carbon batteries depleted and the impregnation of graphene oxide in activated carbon by evaporation/calcination. Kinetic batch adsorption tests were performed with initial pH 5, initial dye concentration of 100 mg L, constant agitation, room temperature and sampling from 5 to 360 min. By analyzing the kinetic data, it was verified the equilibrium time for activated carbon and activated carbon impregnated with graphene oxide of 240 and 90 min, respectively. Changes in the mass transfer stages are reported due to the impregnation of graphene oxide, highlighting the absence of intraparticle diffusion in the micropores and indicative of the limiting step for this adsorbent to be the intraparticle diffusion on the external surface. The changes in the adsorbent, despite not increasing the overall efficiency of the dye adsorption, gave the process greater speed. These results suggest that activated carbon with graphene oxide has potential for use in the dyes removal.
