Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate different sources and proportions of organic agroindustrial substrates in the initial growth of seedlings of the umbu tree (Spondias tuberose Arr. Cam.). The experimental design was performed in randomized blocks, with nine treatments, four repetitions and five plants per plot. The treatments consisted of different proportions of tanned sheep manure (EB), worm humus(HM), tanned cow manure(EB), aviary bed(CA) mixed with clay(B) and sand(A), in the following proportions, T= B+A (1:1) (witness); 1=EO+B+A (1:1:1); 2=EO+B+A (2:1:1); 3=HM+B+A (1:1:1); 4=HM+B+A (2:1:1); 5=EB+B+A (1:1:1); 6=EB+B+A (2:1:1); 7=CA+B+A (1:1:1); 8=CA+B+A (2:1:1). The substrates were homogenized and packed in polyethylene bags with a capacity of 3 litres, a week beforesubculturing the seedlings. The variablesseedling height and number of lateral branches were analyzed every two weeks, until the hundred and fifth day after transplanting them from the germinator to the plastic bags. Hundred and fifty days later, the following characteristicswere evaluated: plant height; root length; number of lateral branches; neck diameter; stem diameter at the point of grafting; fresh weight from the shoot; shoot dry weight; root dry weight. The data were subjected to analysis of variance, to the Tukey test and regression analysis at 1 at 5% of significance. Significant difference was observed among treatments: witness containing clay and sand in the proportion of 1: 1, worm humus, clay and sand in the proportion of 1: 1: 1 and aviary clay and sand bed in ratios of 1: 1: 1, showed the best results. .
