The mechanism of PBX/Knotted homeobox 2 and related genes in gastric cancer

Abstract

PBX/Knotted Homeobox 2 (PKNOX2) is a transcription factor, which plays an important role in the formation of organs during the embryonic period, and is also expressed in some organs of normal adults, and is involved in the growth and development process. At the same time, PKNOX2 has the effect of tumor suppressor gene by promoting tumor cell apoptosis, inhibiting proliferation and blocking epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, etc.In gastric cancer (GC), PKNOX2 plays a tumor suppressor role by activating the IGFBP5 and p53 signaling pathways, and its overexpression upregulates multiple genes, such as RPRM, BTG2, GADD45A and p73, etc., and the up-regulated genes can synergistically play a tumor suppressor role with PKNOX2.This article introduces the mechanism of PKNOX2 and related genes in the anti-tumor effect of gastric cancer. \n \n \nKey words: \nGastric cancer;\xa0PBX/Knotted Homeobox 2;\xa0Tumor suppressor genes
