Clinical application effect of couples participating in PAC intervention in rural community hospitals

 
 
 

Abstract


Objective \nTo explore the clinical application effect of couples participating in post-abortion care (PAC) intervention in rural community hospitals. \n \n \nMethods \n200 patients taking induced abortion at our department from January to June, 2018 were selected, and divided into a study group and a control group according to whether theri spouses accompanied them, 100 cases for each group. The control group received routine education before and after the operation, but no one-to-one counseling and health education services. The study group were provided with health education service for the couples after PAC abortion. \n \n \nResults \nThe awareness rate of contraceptive knowledge after induced abortion, the rate of using effective contraceptive methods, and the satisfaction to service were significantly higher and the number of repeated abortions within 6 months was significantly lower in the study group than in the control group (97.00% vs. 61.00%, 63.00% vs. 45.00%, 99.00% vs. 74.00%, and 0.00% vs. 4.00%; all P<0.05). \n \n \nConclusions \nIn rural communities, the implementation of PAC health education for both husband and wife is of great significance for promoting female reproductive health, quality of life, and husband-wife relationship, implementing contraceptive measures, and avoiding repeated abortion.
