Abstract

Objective \nTo investigate the value of intestinal fluid infusion technology in the treatment of short bowel syndrome after enterostomy in neonates. \n \n \nMethods \nTwenty neonates with short bowel syndrome after enterostomy in Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from March 2015 to March 2018 were selected. All neonates underwent enterostomy and enteric fluid reinfusion after operation. The treatment, enteric fluid reinfusion and improvement in nutritional status were observed. \n \n \nResults \nShort bowel syndrome was found in all of the 20 neonates after enterostomy. After enteric fluid reinfusion, 18 cases recovered well. Only 2 cases had more stools when they returned home from hospital, and the family members took reasonable measures to alleviate the symptoms under the guidence of medical personal. No complications directly related to transfusion occurred, only 3 cases had septicemia and were discharged from hospital after treatment. The body weight of the children with fistula closure was significantly higher than that before transfusion (P<0.05). \n \n \nConclusions \nIntestinal fluid reinfusion technique is safe and feasible for short bowel syndrome after enterostomy in neonates. It can effectively improve the nutritional status of the children. The weight gain rate of the children is ideal after treatment, the related complications are few, and the treatment method is safe and reliable. \n \n \nKey words: \nNeonates;\xa0Enterostomy;\xa0Short bowel syndrome;\xa0Intestinal fluid infusion technology;\xa0Nutritional status
