Abstract

Objective \nTo investigate the influence of atrial fibrillation on prognosis of patients with pulmonary embolism. \n \n \nMethods \nSixty-one patients with atrial fibrillation complicated with pulmonary embolism hospitalized in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2011 to July 2018 were selected as atrial fibrillation group. Meanwhile, 122 patients with sinus rhythm complicated with pulmonary embolism diagnosed in the hospital during the same period were randomly selected as sinus rhythm group. All patients were followed up for 30 days after the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism, and the clinical data, revised Geneva score, simplified pulmonary embolism severity index (sPESI) score, in-hospital case fatality rate and 30-day case fatality rate of the two groups were retrospectively analyzed. \n \n \nResults \nWhen compared with the sinus rhythm group, the patients in atrial fibrillation group had faster heart rates (P 0.05). \n \n \nConclusions \nAtrial fibrillation has predictive value for the prognosis of acute pulmonary embolism. Clinical management should be strengthened for patients with acute pulmonary embolism combined with atrial fibrillation, and appropriate intervention should be carried out to improve the prognosis and reduce the case fatality rate. \n \n \nKey words: \nPulmonary embolism;\xa0Atrial fibrillation;\xa0Prognosis
