Value of 18F-FDG PET/CT in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastases
Abstract
18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET/CT offers excellent diagnostic performance on colorectal cancer liver metastases(CRCLM) in terms of sensitivity and specificity, and can comprehensively identify the presence of extrahepatic metastases and provide valuable information for the treatment decision making. 18F-FDG PET/CT can also be used in the early assessment of response to CRCLM therapy and survival prediction. However, the diagnostic value of PET/CT is limited for lesions with diameter within 10 mm or with activity inhibited strongly by chemotherapy. PET combined with contrast enhanced CT may have potential value in improving diagnostic sensitivity for CRCLM. \n \n \nKey words: \nColorectal neoplasms;\xa0Neoplasm metastasis;\xa0Liver;\xa0Positron-emission tomography;\xa0Tomography, X-ray computed;\xa0Deoxyglucose
