Diode laser treatment for recurrent aphthous ulcer: A Meta analysis

Abstract

Objective \nTo assess the effect and safety of diode laser treatment for recurrent aphthous ulcer. \n \n \nMethods \nThe electronic search was conducted in CBM, CNKI, Medline, CENTRAL, EMBASE and PubMed database (from the date of buiding the database to July, 2018) . Clinical randomized controlled trials were selected which involved the targeted issue. Investigators screened out the included trials whose data were then collected and Revman 5.3.3 was applied for Meta-analysis. \n \n \nResults \nEleven trials met the inclusion criteria and 877 patients were enrolled in the trials. Meta analysis showed a significantly decreased Visual Analogue Score VAS (WMD= 2.76, Z= 3.91, P<0.001) after treatment, with higher clinical efficiency (OR= 4.97, Z= 7.99, P<0.001) and shorter healing time of ulcer (WMD= -2.44, Z= 4.14, P<0.001) . \n \n \nConclusion \nThe evidence indicated that diode laser treatment played a positive role in remitting the clinical signs of recurrent aphthous ulcer and shortening the healing duration. \n \n \nKey words: \nLasers, semiconductor;\xa0Stomatitis, aphthous;\xa0Systematic Review;\xa0Meta-analysis
